Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

There isn't a lot to say about my running. I have been running off and on for 5 years and I want to get better and test my limits. I am pretty much starting from scratch.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to complete the Moab 1/2 Marathon in October and to be able to be comfortable running.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maybe someday a whole marathon would be amazing! :)

Personal:

I am a student at Utah State University and I came home from an LDS mission in December 2007.  I think if I can do that, I can complete a 1/2 marathon.

This morning I ran 2.5 miles and since I missed my long run this weekend, I was definitely feeling it! I thought death was around the corner.

Camilla:

I would suggest the following training. Run Mon-Sat 4 miles a day, no skipping, no excuses, no exceptions. The day does not end until the miles are in barring sickness, injury, or a severe natural disaster that locks you up completely immobilized. Easy pace, should be conversational all the way. Should feel like you could go at least another 4 miles if you had to when you finish, that easy. The right pace will probably feel dog slow at least in the first couple of miles, do not worry about it. Do that for a couple of weeks, lets see how you handle it.

Also, sign up for a 5 K to test your fitness. Don't know if you realized that the half you are planning to run in October is on Sunday. For an alternative I would suggest Painter's Half in St. George in January or Huntsville Half in September. Spanish Fork Half is on the same day, but would be a longer drive. But if you happen to be in the area it is an option as well.

Hi Camilla! You're killin' me! Too funny. I can't tell you how many times I've felt the same way. In fact, I generally find the first couple of miles the hardest anyway, and then I find the rhythm and start to roll.

As for the "Nymans," the name really sounds familiar, but I can't say that I know them. We live in the "Windsor Park" area, about 1/2 mile north of the AF / Highland border near what used to be "Tri City Golf Course" (but it is now "Fox Hollow" - I guess someone thought the new name would sound somehow more prestigious).

Go Aggies! I'm a Cougar myself, but I love Utah State and the Logan / Cache Valley area. Absolutely one of my favorite places in Utah.

Keep running!
